# 5. Wyscout vs StatsBomb for player recruitment: do we need both?

**Compare the actual packages rather than assuming Wyscout means video and StatsBomb means data.** Hudl now offers Statsbomb analysis with integrated Wyscout video, and its current product documentation includes event, 360, broadcast-tracking and physical-data offerings; individual entitlements still require confirmation. ([hudl.com](https://www.hudl.com/products/statsbomb/faq))

Use three practical tests:

**Discovery test:** can a scout find the required role profile, restrict the correct competitions and seasons, and preserve the search?

**Assessment test:** can the analyst move from a metric to the underlying actions and relevant footage, including counterexamples rather than only positive clips?

**Delivery test:** can the club export, store and present the necessary evidence within its authorised workflow?

Ask Hudl to demonstrate the following on the same targets:

- The proposed combined package.
- The standalone capabilities the club would retain.
- Any functions, competitions, historical seasons or export rights lost through consolidation.
- Whether saved reports, lists and video references survive migration.
- The difference between platform access and API access.

Do not cancel a standalone subscription because a demonstration contains a familiar video player. Conversely, do not renew two contracts solely because the products historically served different purposes.

**The purchasing question is:** which combination gives the club its required evidence and workflow at the lowest acceptable total burden? This public-source review cannot determine that without your entitlements and a tested shortlist.
