# 12. What should a regional scout add that our subscriptions cannot already tell us?

**Interview objective:** Commission missing observations or context rather than another summary of the same database.

**Put to:** Edward Gallagher and a regional scouting principal, with independent review by the club’s head of scouting.

**Why it matters to buyers:** Boston’s appointment announcement describes Gallagher’s combination of women’s-football scouting, international relationships and data-led evaluation. His September 2026 ProPlayer podcast description likewise frames recruitment around scouting, data, relationships and understanding the individual. Those sources establish relevant interview experience, not a universal claim that human scouting outperforms data. **A strong answer should cover:**

- The unresolved question and why live observation, local knowledge or additional interviews are appropriate.
- Whether the assignment is live, video-based or desk research.
- Required matches, dates, observation conditions and reporting standards.
- Separation of direct observation, attributed information and the scout’s inference.
- Relationships with players, agents, clubs or intermediaries that should be disclosed.
- A process for contradiction and uncertainty rather than pressure to recommend a signing.

**Sharp follow-up:** Would your fee or any other payment change if we recruited this player? Which parts of your report could another qualified reviewer verify?

**Request this artefact:** A Regional Scout Commission containing the brief, evidence standard, relationship disclosure, report template and acceptance criteria. Exclude personal gossip and unverifiable character claims from accepted deliverables.
