Public evidence does not establish one overall winner. Evaluate competition-season coverage directly, with women’s footage and data in the trial. Neither a global competition count nor a successful men’s demonstration should qualify as acceptance evidence for the club’s women’s recruitment requirements.
What women’s coverage evidence can actually be established?
On 27 May 2026, Hudl announced a free event-data release covering the complete 2023 NWSL season and the 2023/24 seasons of the WSL, Liga F, Frauen-Bundesliga and Serie A Women. This is useful historical evidence and a potential methodological test resource. It is not evidence of current-season commercial entitlements or licensed full-match video. (hudl.com)
| Recruitment market | Evidence located in this review | What it establishes | What still needs verification |
|---|---|---|---|
| NWSL | Hudl’s historical release; open-data catalogue entries for 2018 and 2023 | Specified historical event-data availability | Required current-season matches, video, fields, delivery timing and purchased rights |
| NCAA women’s soccer | Wyscout’s January 2022 release notes announced women’s NCAA conferences in Advanced Search and Rankings | A historical feature/coverage announcement | Exact Division I teams, seasons, matches and footage available to a professional club today |
| England’s WSL | Hudl’s release specifies 2023/24 | A named historical event-data season | Current seasons, full-match footage and historical continuity in the proposed package |
| Spain’s Liga F | Hudl’s release specifies 2023/24 | A named historical event-data season | Current match availability, field completeness and player histories |
| Liga MX Femenil | Wyscout’s March 2021 notes announced addition to Advanced Search | Historical search availability | Current tournaments, match video, event fields, delivery timing and entitlement scope |
Sources for the table are the actual release announcement, open-data catalogue and Wyscout changelog. No row represents an independently completed coverage audit. (hudl.com)
A related warning appears in recruitment-modelling catalogues: the reviewed Analytics FC and LCP TransferLab pages present different women’s coverage totals. We have not established why. Rather than choose a number, request a dated competition-and-season manifest for the exact package being quoted. (analyticsfc.co.uk)
How should an NWSL recruitment coverage comparison be built?
Use one row per supplier × product × competition × season × evidence type. Record:
- Competition identifier, gender, division and stage.
- Season or tournament identifier—not just a display name.
- Expected completed matches as of the audit cut-off.
- Available full-match videos and usable duration.
- Available event, spatial and physical datasets separately.
- Required-field missingness and player-identity exceptions.
- Delivery timestamps and correction history.
- Package entitlement, permitted uses and evidence date.
Our proposed completeness measure is:
Usable-match coverage = matches meeting the agreed evidence requirements ÷ expected completed in-scope matches
Define “usable” before counting. Exclude future fixtures and document treatment of abandoned, postponed and duplicate matches. Publish separate footage and data measures rather than one percentage that hides a missing evidence type.
If there is no defensible expected-match inventory, report counts and unresolved scope—not a fabricated completeness percentage.
Is on-demand processing an alternative to broader catalogue coverage?
Potentially, when the club can supply authorised footage. SkillCorner’s 30 September 2026 Data on Demand announcement describes processing supplied video, line-ups and key events into tracking, physical and Game Intelligence data. It states delivery through an API within 24–48 hours depending on the package, and exclusivity to the requesting club unless otherwise agreed. Those are supplier terms to confirm, not independently measured service levels. (skillcorner.com)
Our suggested comparison is catalogue subscription versus a bounded processing assignment. Include the effort and permission required to obtain footage, submit metadata, inspect output and build a suitable comparison group.
Keep acquisition rules separate from coverage. The NWSL’s August 2024 collective bargaining announcement eliminated the draft. NCAA evaluation should therefore not be framed around an assumed continuing NWSL college draft; transaction questions require their own current rules review. (nwslsoccer.com)
