Interview objective: Compare the actual purchasing alternatives without turning staff time into fictional cash savings.
Put to: Tyler Heaps, the club’s finance partner and group procurement; have suppliers confirm their own quoted scope.
Why it matters to buyers: This review did not obtain comparable professional-club quotations. It therefore offers no Wyscout subscription-cost benchmark, market-average scouting budget or claimed achievable saving.
A strong answer should cover:
- Quoted seats, competitions, seasons, modules, APIs and permitted entities.
- Implementation, historical backfill, training, support and third-party costs.
- Internal evaluation, integration, quality-control and maintenance hours.
- Dual running, migration, notice periods, residual commitments and exit work.
- Which cancelled costs actually disappear and which remain elsewhere in a bundle.
Use two separate calculations:
First-year incremental cash cost = new contracted charges + implementation and transition payments + unavoidable overlap − verified cash costs removed.
Internal capacity requirement = evaluation hours + integration hours + training hours + recurring maintenance and verification hours.
These are proposed accounting structures, not supplier price estimates. An optional internal hourly allocation can help compare workloads, but it should remain separate from cash expenditure.
Sharp follow-up: If the tool releases analyst time but payroll remains unchanged, what higher-priority work will that capacity support?
Request this artefact: A Scouting Renewal Cost Calculator with retain, add, replace and consolidate scenarios. Include an explicit “use the current stack better” alternative and avoid hypothetical returns from future transfers.
