Interview objective: Compare contracted evidence and workflows, not logos or historical product categories.
Put to: Ty Chin, Hugo Bordigoni and the club’s analytics lead, with independent challenge from Sarah Rudd.
Why it matters to buyers: Wyscout video is integrated into Statsbomb, while Hudl now separately advertises soccer tracking. Its tracking page distinguishes currently described functionality from forthcoming features. This makes a simple “Wyscout versus Statsbomb” or “event data versus SkillCorner” comparison insufficient without package-level detail. (hudl.com)
A strong answer should cover:
- A task-level map of video, events, tracking, models, exports and reporting.
- Whether two outputs share an underlying feed or instead provide independently collected evidence.
- Different definitions, historical coverage and correction processes, even where metric names look similar.
- Which integration features are available in the proposed contract now, which require another product, and which remain on a roadmap.
- What the club would lose by removing each subscription.
Sharp follow-up: Demonstrate the same player, match and recruitment question in both products. What is genuinely additional, and what is simply a different interface?
Request this artefact: A Scouting Subscription Overlap Audit with fields for source lineage, contracted entitlement, tested workflow and cancellation dependency. Treat “same owner” and “same category” as prompts for investigation, not proof of redundancy.
