Stage 3: How do you verify MLS and NWSL scouting coverage?

Request a dated competition-and-season inventory, then inspect authorised examples against the club’s requirements. A competition name alone is insufficient for procurement.

Hudl’s Wyscout FAQ states that coverage and historical depth vary by competition and package. It also says availability timing depends on competition and rights agreements, and that content can become temporarily unavailable when an agreement expires before renewal. Those qualifications make scope and delivery timing essential trial inputs. (hudl.com)

Build the coverage comparison around these questions

Requirement Evidence to request or inspect
Which matches should exist? Dated fixture inventory identifying completed, postponed, cancelled and out-of-scope matches
Is the footage usable? Full-match access, required camera angle, playback quality and correct match/player attribution
Are the required fields present? Field-level availability, definitions and null values—not merely a populated dashboard
Is the history sufficient? Exact seasons and continuity across transfers or competition changes
Is delivery timely enough? Match completion time, contractual delivery allowance and actual availability timestamp
Does the purchased package include it? Entitlement schedule and successful access through the proposed account
What happens when evidence is missing? Exception log, correction route, response owner and commercial remedy to negotiate

For a bounded first pass, select three to five priority competition-season combinations and five to ten player cases. Include ordinary cases and deliberately difficult ones: recent transfers, limited minutes, ambiguous names and less-visible teams. This is a practical challenge set, not a statistically representative platform audit.

Where a reliable denominator exists, calculate:

Delivery completeness = qualifying completed matches with the required usable evidence ÷ qualifying completed matches for which delivery was due.

Report video, required data fields and delivery punctuality separately. Do not classify a match as missing before its agreed delivery allowance expires. If only selected matches were inspected, label the result “sample completeness”, not competition-wide coverage.

What needs a separate NWSL test?

Test women’s competitions directly, including any relevant NCAA and international recruitment markets. Record the comparison population and model version as well as the available matches.

This is a live product question: Hudl’s 11 February 2026 release notes describe profile distributions based on men’s or women’s data according to the user setting. SkillCorner published dedicated women’s physical metrics on 11 June 2026 and a related webinar page on 21 October 2026. These are supplier descriptions of functionality, not independent validation of recruitment outcomes. (hudl.com)

For NCAA-to-NWSL work, use current acquisition assumptions: the NWSLPA’s CBA materials confirm elimination of the entry and expansion drafts. Keep player eligibility and transaction approval separate from the supplier assessment. (nwslplayers.com)

Exit condition: every essential requirement is marked verified within the tested scope, partial, supplier-claimed, unavailable or unknown. An essential unknown remains a blocker, not a pass.
