Only proceed once the applicable agreements expressly support the intended workflow; technical access is not enough. Hudl’s public User Terms restrict automated extraction and use of service data for model training or development, subject to stated exceptions or express written permission. These public terms do not determine the rights in every negotiated professional agreement. (hudl.com)
Build a Recruitment Data Licence Stress Test around specific uses:
| Intended workflow | Written clarification to obtain |
|---|---|
| Download authorised clips | Permitted formats, volumes, recipients and storage |
| Populate a club database | Raw-data storage, refresh and retention rights |
| Build internal statistics | Permitted transformations and ownership of outputs |
| Train or fine-tune a model | Explicit scope, inputs, model ownership and restrictions |
| Use retrieval or an external AI service | Processing permission, approved providers, retention and onward use |
| Share with a consultant | Authorised-user or contractor status and confidentiality |
| Share across clubs | Named entities and permitted cross-entity access |
| Keep work after termination | Treatment of raw data, clips, reports, derived metrics and models |
For each row, record the clause, document version, scope, ambiguity and person responsible for resolution. Mark not found where the wording does not address the use.
Keep these activities separate: inference, retrieval, embeddings, fine-tuning and training. Ask counsel to classify the proposed workflow under the actual wording rather than assuming one permission covers everything.
Also ask how the supplier may use the club’s uploaded reports, shortlists and prompts. Public Hudl terms distinguish user and customer content and refer customer-content model-training rights to the applicable customer agreement. (hudl.com)
This is procurement triage, not a legal opinion. Obtain written contractual clarification before committing engineering resources or uploading confidential material.
