Compare subscriptions by recruitment task, evidence lineage and contractual entitlement—not by product category alone. Integration can create genuine overlap: Hudl announced Wyscout video within its enhanced Statsbomb platform on 28 July 2025, while its current FAQ makes clear that video access depends on the purchased package. Build a Scouting Subscription Overlap Audit with one row per recurring task:
| Task | Incumbent evidence | Proposed addition | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Review a target’s recent full matches | Record accessible match IDs | Record additional accessible matches | Does it close an actual footage gap? |
| Compare role-specific actions | Record fields, definitions and sample | Record new fields or interpretation | Is this new evidence or another presentation? |
| Assess off-ball movement | Record what is currently observable | Record tracking-derived outputs | Does it answer a previously unresolved question? |
| Prepare the recruitment meeting | Record reports, clips and preparation time | Repeat the same output | Is the workflow materially easier? |
| Monitor shortlisted players | Record refresh process and exceptions | Test updates and corrections | Is monitoring more reliable? |
For each apparent duplication, distinguish:
- Same underlying data, different interface. Potential workflow value, but not independent corroboration.
- Different collection of similar events. Potential corroboration, subject to definitions and quality.
- Different evidence type. Potential complement rather than replacement.
- Unused entitlement. Investigate whether training or configuration would unlock existing value.
Before cancellation, run a removal test: complete essential tasks without the proposed redundant product. Record lost coverage, broken links, unavailable history and extra staff effort.
The decision may be to retain two apparently similar products. The audit should explain why—not presume duplication is waste.
